Dr Richard Horowitz is a board certified MD specialising in chronic illness including Lyme disease and Multiple Systemic Infectious Disease Syndrome (MSIDS).

His recent book ‘How can I get better‘  is available from Amazon.

He has treated more than twelve thousand patients for tick-borne diseases.

Patients wait for months to see him and often say that he cured them of a disease that nobody else seemed able to treat.

Chronic fatigue, sleep disturbances, musculoskeletal pain, and neurocognitive difficulties are the same symptoms seen in Chronic fatigue syndrome, Fibromyalgia and Lyme (MSIDS) disease.

Lyme disease is known as the great imitator and can mimic a broad range of other diseases. If you suffer from ongoing fatigue, muscle and joint pain, tingling, numbness, burning sensations, headaches, memory and concentration problems, and all mood and sleep disorders, and the doctors have told you can’t find anything wrong with you-that it is all in your head-they may be right. You may have Lyme spirochetes, co- infections and neurotoxins inside your brain and making you sick.

Unfortunately the blood tests for diagnosing Lyme and associated disease are less than  70% reliable and most physicians do not do testing for multiple neurotoxins like mold,  heavy metals,  pesticides, and volatile organic solvents.

However bio resonance provides a more accurate testing at low cost. Lyme.repair provides free testing in Melbourne Australia: contact lyme@posteo.net.

Therefore you may have tick borne infections and associated toxins, and your health care providers either may not look for these problems or were not able to find them, and giving you a label of another illness.

If we wish to get to the sources of a disease process, I believe that each person’s symptoms need to be considered individually, then collected and put into likely disease categories to try and find a common denominator.

Is it normal to be losing your memory as you get older, and that every 67 seconds someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in the United States? Or is it possible that there are multiple aetiologies are at the root of this condition? Dr Alan MacDonald who examined brain biopsies from patients with confirmed Alzheimer’s disease found that 7/10 of these patients had DNA of Borrelia in their brain, the etiological  agent of Lyme disease.

We also find the majority of our chronically all patients with Lyme disease and co- infections have been exposed to high levels of heavy metals, such as mercury and lead, and occasionally to aluminium.

Hope Australia has a free urine test for heavy metals:

together with your Email address for results.

Heavy metal exposure can cause memory and concentration problems as well as the production of elevated levels of free radicals, which can increase inflammation. Similarly, we are exposed to hundreds of environmental chemicals every day that are fat soluble and find their way to the brain.

These can and to affect cognitive processing. The inflammatory process  at work in Alzheimer’s disease causes the production of amyloid.

Dr Horowitz  has  seen improvements in cognitive functioning after treating chronic tick borne infetions; by removing fat-soluble toxins with glutathione and by using oral chelating agents to remove Mercury, Lead and Aluminium; by getting their blood sugar under control; by getting them a good night sleep; and by identifying and treating the Vit B12 deficiencies and/or hypothyroidism.

This is why he believes that identifying the multifactorial causes is now the most important shift in medicine, and maybe the key to keeping down rising health care costs, decreasing suffering, and unlocking the mystery of lime disease and other chronic illness.

Infections lead to inflammation that, when combined with genetics and environmental toxins, further contributes to inflammation, immune dysfunction, and illness.

Inflammation can also be caused by the wrong kinds of intestinal bacteria in the micro-biome, leaky gut syndrome (caused by long branches of yeast burrowing into the intestinal mucosa and damaging the intestines, so that macromolecules of food are able to pass across a damaged intestinal barrier), food allergies or sensitivities, nutritional deficiencies, sleep disorders, heavy metals, and environmental toxins.
